Good News

We got confirmation today that Micah's adoption is definitely scheduled to be finalized this month! Once it is finalized, and they have submitted for his passport, they will let us know. Once his passport has been issued, we will begin the wait for his visa to be issued. All said, it looks like we'll have Micah home in September or October! According to the timelines of others who are just ahead of us in the process, it seems like we'd be traveling in late September or October, but our contact at the adoption agency said she was thinking late August! Even if that doesn't happen, it sure is fun to think about the possibility of being on a plane to bring our son home 8 weeks from now!!!

Thank you so much for all of the prayers regarding Micah's hospitalization. We have not received any updates on his health, so we assume he is still in the hospital. We've been told to expect a call or e-mail if he is released from the hospital, or if his condition deteriorates, but to not expect updates barring one of those two events. We love our Pediatrician, who we talked to today. She is already consulting with the in-house Infectious Diseases Specialist to have a detailed plan for evaluating and treating Micah within days of his arrival. There are lots of things to consider! (For example, the types of bacteria found in Liberia are different from the types of bacteria found in the U.S., so we will be feeding him lots of yogurt as a means of introducing our bacteria into his system. Another example: We are working to determine as best we can what types/strains of Malaria are prevalant in Liberia, and what treatments are most effective against them.) We are soooo thankful for our wonderful Pediatrician, who works with lots of children who have come from other countries. She is very knowledgeable, patient, and thorough. She is part of the reason we felt confident that we could bring home a child we knew would probably have some medical issues on board, and nurse him back to health with her help. Thank you, Lord, for our Pediatrician!
