I opened my e-mail this afternoon, and much to my surprise, we had received Micah's Orphan Report! From what I understand, these are typically sent out to Adoptive Families just before they travel to pick up their child. I believe they are written by a young woman who spends a lot of time with the children in the orphanage, and knows them well. Her name is Melodie, and I know she has played a role in coordinating some of Micah's healthcare at a minimum. This is Melodie's last month working with Acres, so I'm guessing she's preparing some of these reports early--before her departure. Here's what the report said:
"Beautiful Micah! Glowing with good health and an amazing personality, Micah is practically the dream baby. He's very good-natured and literally almost never cries unless he's hungry or wants to be held.
Micah loves any form of attention, especially being held. Even if he is really hungry, he will stop crying when he is in someone's arms. His cry is rather pathetic, and is not demanding or obnoxious whatsoever. His sad and needy whimpers prompts people to run to him to meet his needs.
Micah is extremely friendly and smiley. Even if he's just been crying, as soon as he's in someone's arms he'll start smiling warmly at any friendly face he sees. Tears will still be streaking his face, but he'll smile just the same. Micah is friendly to practically everyone, but does seem more content when he's with his primary caretakers. He'll gives smiles to all, but is most at ease with familiar people.
Micah is now able to sit. During playtime the nannies settle Micah on the rug and put a couple of toys in front of him. He glows with excitement at the prospect of sitting and playing with his toys. Micah can sit and play for quite a long time, but eventually gets tired and wants to be held. Micah has been sitting well for about 3 weeks now.
Micah takes about two long naps a day, one in the morning from about 9:00 to 11:00, and one in the after noon from about 1:00 to 3:00. He goes to bed around 6:00 in the evening, is up a few times in the night, and the gets up in the morning around 6:30. Micah is a good eater he takes about 8 ounces of formula every 3 to 4 hours. He cries when he's hungry, and hardly ever cries otherwise, so it's easy to know when he needs to be fed. Sucking the two middle fingers of his left hand is a great comfort to Micah. Much time is spent during the day, especially naptime, trying to shove the fingers further and further into his mouth. He sucks the fingers of both hands for recreation but will only fall asleep with the left hand fingers in his mouth.
Micah is in excellent health. He wears size 6-9 month clothes, size 3 diapers and size 2 shoes. He is now over 17 pounds."
