It's looking like we might get to meet Micah and bring him home next month!!! We were losing hope of traveling in October, because it's supposed to take about 6 months from the time the passport has been issued until you can travel, and his passport has still not been issued. Evidently, Alma (the Consulate, the lady who is in charge of issuing Visas) is willing to do the work related to the processing of the Visa without waiting for the passport to be issued. So, for example, if she reviews Micah's paperwork as scheduled on September 25th, and then interviews his Birth Mother on October 4th, we could possibly get a call on October 5th saying, "Book your tickets!" Please, please pray that Alma will look on Micah's case with favor. She has the power to deny orphan status, and bring an adoption to an abrupt halt. She has done this multiple times lately.
Some of you have asked about the status of our contact with the Senator's office. They called a few days after we sent our first letter, saying they were prepared to contact the U.S. Ambassador to Liberia on our behalf, in an effort to expedite Micah's homecoming. We are sending them a follow-up letter that basically says, "Thanks for so promptly taking up this cause. It appears the situation has been remedied as much as possible for now, and we will contact you if any further problems arise." You see, the passport should have taken about a month, but we have now been waiting for it for about 2 1/2 months. While we have been riding out that delay, some of the changes in the Visa procedure have been smoothed out. (Hopefully this makes sense; I'm trying to condense and simplify a very convoluted chunk of information!)
Anyway, the big news is that the months of waiting may be over! Maybe, just maybe, we're down to weeks now. We'll keep you posted!
