If you're still thinking of donating physical goods, check out the updated list below--I've blacked out things I know are being taken care of. (If you know of something else that has been covered, please e-mail me so I can further update the list.) I will see to it that any "doubly donated" items are put to good use through the church or pregnancy center.
If you'd like to donate money to help the Olsons out, you can do that through the church. Just make out your check to East Side Baptist Church, and reference the Olsons on the memo line. Drop it in the offering on Sunday, or give it to someone who can. Our Treasurer will then cut one check for the Olsons.
Kendra and Grace, Phil & Heather's daughter, during their '07 visit
We received an e-mail from our good friends Phil and Heather, who are Missionaries in Ecuador, entitled, "Adventures We Could Have Done Without". Long story short, almost everything they own was stolen. The good news is, Phil is going to be in town next week! I'll be setting up a container(s) to collect donations in the church office or sanctuary. If you don't go to our church or won't be by the church this week, but could still help, please feel free to pass stuff on to me, because Phil will be staying with us. We'll need to have everything collected by Monday the 5th. Here's a list of their needs, which I'm copying from an e-mail from them:
Heather & Phil both had Gortex water-proof rain jackets taken, essential for rains here.
Breast pump
Jogging stroller (to be able to get around on our unpaved roads)
Hiking Back pack baby carrier- to transport up to a 3 year old
Grace is a tall 3T or 4T in size, and she needs about everything:
Pants/ jeans, t-shirts, long sleeve t-shirts, sweaters/ sweatshirts, underwear, socks, shoes, her jacket/ coat
Heather had about all the pants she owns taken, along with most of her short sleeve and long sleeve shirts, sweaters, underclothes (including all her nursing bras), and all her warm socks. Also a pair of sandals- since she cant go bare-foot because of her leg.
Phil had pants, shirts- long and short sleeved, and sweat shirt, along with most socks and boxer shorts stolen.
Also, seeing that our lifestyle is pretty “mobile”- we’ll need to replace some of the luggage stolen: Toiletries bags, Duffel bags, Back pack, Insulated lunch bag
Heather had a chronological bible, and Phil had a small travel bible that were both taken.
